Abstract

Intangible cultural heritage (ICH) is an important symbol of the historical and cultural achievements of a nation, and an important part of the excellent traditional Chinese culture. Integrating ICH into public English classroom teaching can enrich students’ spiritual world, improve their humanistic quality, and help inherit and carry forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture. Taking Xinhua folk songs, a national ICH, as an example, this paper try to discuss the significance of integrating ICH into public English classrooms, point out the existing problems in the integration, and put forward practical paths, so that the classes can achieve the goals of language learning and cultural education, to promote the inheritance and promotion of ICH, and enhance the influence of Chinese culture.
